So long sugar... well in a couple days....

Friday already almost the end of March and Easter is already here... Where has the first 3 months of the year gone!!!

A blog I follow Mommy Run Fast is having a sugar detox next week... I decided to jump on board and give it a try. Figure I can make it 7 days without added sugar and I opted to do the level 2 and cut out more processed foods.

So what did I do today ate two bagels from Panara Bread and later regretted it as my stomach didn't like all that bread and sweetness.. Guess good sign that maybe next week won't be so bad. But hard to think that I could eat that crap daily and never have it bother me.

Tonight I have to finish getting the house ready for Easter dinner on Sunday and hope that my husband and boys keep it that way when I am at work all day/night tomorrow.

I had seen lots about doing hard boiled eggs in the oven and gave it a try last night. We will be coloring eggs tonight and I hope the eggs cooked ok. I haven't talked to anyone who had tried the egg in oven yet so we shall see.

Tomorrow is a HUGE HUGE day for me its the official start of orientation for my new job and I am already nervous. I know my stuff know what to do and where everything is. But its a whole new world trying to transition from student to employee and be in orientation feeling like your every move is being judged. Now I know this isn't true but its what's going thru my head! I feel like I should already know all the roads and streets in the county and be able to say oh ya that's here without looking at a map. I know that it will take some time but I am a bit of an over achiever and think I should have it all memorized. I'm glad the first out crew is one that I worked with a ton during school so I know how they like do do things and what they expect want and need from the EMT.

Something old for something new

I mentioned a while back that my Grandma had asked me to go thru her china cabinets and her kitchen cabinets and take home the dishes and antiques I wanted. I admit I put off doing this for a few months. Just didn't feel right going thru the kitchen picking what I wanted. I know she wanted me to have the stuff (and I will end up with a lot more later) and wanted to see it in our house and me enjoying it. All that I took had been in her cabinets since I was a baby I have grown up seeing it in the exact same spot same shelf my whole life. We spent a few hours one evening packing it all up for me to take home.

Then it sat in boxes in my garage for a couple weeks and Sunday I decided that since I had the house all to myself that I would unpack it all and put it away in its new home.

One box full of stuff all spread out on the table.

The second box of goodies. Seems like a lot and still a lot more to bring over someday. Really thinking I need a china cabinet that matches our kitchen/dining room cabinets.

This Pillsbury doughboy has been in her cabinet since probably before I was born always thought it was neat seeing him in amongst the dishes and antiques.

Until recently I wouldn't have thought much about these but I have learned they are fairly rare now and not easy to come by. They are pretty old and I always thought it was neat that one was green and one was pink.

Honestly as a small child this turkey platter freaked me out. It sat on a level where I could see as a child the plates were up above in another part of the cabinet. Grandma used it for several dinners she hosted. And I am sure it will join the rotation with my other turkey platter she gave me at Thanksgiving.

This was one of the hardest things for me to say I wanted. I had gave this to Grandma on her birthday when I was 16 or 17 bought it with my own money I was making working at Hallmark. She made and then displayed many cakes on this over the years and I'm thinking it will make an appearance in our Easter dinner.

Sorry the flash was causing reflection its says 50th Anniversary. When Grandma asked me if I wanted it I was like no isn't that a gift given to you and Grandpa on your 50th (which was 9 years ago)? She told me it was her grandparents from their 50th I never met her grandparents or if I did don't remember them. But its pretty neat having something that is that old that has been in the family that long.

There are several more dishes that have been in the family a very long time both from her side and my Grandpa's side of the family and I am honored to have them and to use them in our new house.

Certain dishes I remember exactly what Grandma used them for every time and I will probably cook the same things in those same dishes would not be right to break tradition.

An unexpected walk....

Last night on our way home from work I told Kenny that if the roads weren't to muddy I wanted to go on a walk while he went to get the boys. After he talked to his parents the kids weren't ready to come home yet they were having to much fun there.

I asked if he wanted to go with me (as he has NEVER EVER went with me) fully figured he would be like no I need to do this or that.... However to my surprise he agreed and said we would walk around the block. I have always thought about doing such but didn't know how far it was plus there was at least one house that had dogs that I just didn't trust. For the readers that don't know where I live its a rural area but we live on a gravel road and if you make a right each time you get to a cross road you can make a complete circle back home. I have rode this on four wheelers many many times as a kid.

Honestly I wasn't sure he would make it (however I didn't tell him that) because he hasn't went farther than 2 miles on the treadmill and that was a couple months ago. So we left home around 6 each took a flash light and both had our phones. I was hopeful we would get home before dark.

We had 3 low water bridges to cross I knew the little one would probably have water over it just hoped it wasn't deep. We got to the first one and it was dry but the second one had water over it and was to deep to walk thru without getting wet. So we walked up the bank and crossed over some big rocks and went on our way. We got to the house that had the dogs and of course they ran out and tried to nip at the backs of our legs and hands (next time I will carry a big stick!).

Made it to where I grew up and it had been years since I had walked on those parts of the road brought back lots of childhood memories of walking and riding bikes on that stretch. Guess I should have took a picture or two. We had hit 3.2 miles by that point which I knew we were close to half way home.

The third creek came up and well it was rolling with LOTS of water.....
The creek is pretty wide and we didn't see any easy areas to get to that we could cross over on rocks and not get wet. So I decided to take my shoes and socks off and walk across (its barely 35 degrees out)

Pulled up my pants and went across this wasn't the deepest part either and it was almost to my knees in a few places. I would not have drove my car across it!

We stopped to put our shoes and socks back on and then a neighbor came by on his tractor feeding cows great timing.... He told us we were a long way from home ha! Really like we didn't know that...

The hills were killer I had already done 65 squats earlier in the day plus was still a bit sore from my 4 mile race on Saturday. We made it to the last stretch of road where we could see our house Kenny decided that when we got there we would stop in and see my grandparents. They were shocked we went that far it was only 5.5 miles which wasn't far for me but was the most he had ever done.

Here was the map of our route it was the first time I had used runtastic. I have gave up on my Nike app for outdoor it never seems to connect and track my mileage. Just wish I could use runtastic inside on the treadmill.

I didn't push Kenny to walk my normal pace I was just happy he wanted to get out there with me he did good keeping the pace I was going.
Didn't even know the app did the splits I am sure they aren't as accurate as a Garmin or Polar watch which I would LOVE to have one or the other.

We reached our driveway and was at 5.39 miles and I made him keep going until we could get an even 5.5 he may have thought I was nuts but I like even numbers!

I'm very glad we got to do this together and maybe once in a while he will go again with me at least he knows now he can do it.

Race to the Rocker race recap

Saturday I participated in my first Race to the Rocker and it was the first 4 mile race I had ever done.

We got some snow and yucky weather on Thursday night and in to Friday yep mother nature forgot to tell old man winter to get lost. The race was in a neighboring town about 30 miles from me. They had packet pickup and a race expo the night before the race. We had thought about going but the weather was iffy. However we got lucky and my friend's husband picked up our packets for us. I am glad they let him because I really wasn't wanting to make that drive in the nasty weather with my kids.

I didn't pick out what I was going to wear until the night before. So NOT like me usually I know at least a week ahead of time however the weather wasn't making that easy. The race started at 9 so we decided to meet at the ambulance base at 8 and ride together.

I woke up wide awake way way to early but since everyone in the house was sleeping I decided to go ahead get ready and sneak out. I knew that Laurie her oldest son and I were had planned on doing the race but at the last minute her husband (my boss at my new job) was going to do it with us. Yep I was a bit nervous to say the least!!!!

We rode to the race together which was nice kept my nerves down somewhat. We arrive to realize this was a very competitive race series and honestly had no clue there were so many competitive racers locally!

The race started right on time and there were around 1000 people in the race. They announced that the first person to finish the 4 miles in less than 20 minutes would get $250.00 in cash. In my mind I was like holy cow can someone really run that far in that amount of time. Yep one guy did it in 19:xx!!

Can you tell I am freezing.... I knew once we got started I would be hot and sweaty so I toughed it out without a coat on.

The first mile seemed to take forever the 4 of us stayed right with each other talking and watching the others. They decided their goal would be to finish and not be last I honestly didn't have a goal I knew I could walk 4 miles with no problem but still didn't want to be at the back of the pack.

By mile 1.5-2 I looked at Laurie and said I thought you said this was a flat course... It was hill after hill after hill and I have not worked on hills oh since my half marathon in October!

The first water stop I ran in to a friend I hadn't seen since 2003 when she was my maid of honor in my wedding. And if I would have been thinking I would have got a picture however I was froze and shocked to see her along the course.

We talked quite a bit about our Random Acts of Kindness and the fund and how to get more people involved to spread the word. While we were walking a lady behind me asked me if I came all the way there from Vichy. I had forgot I had my Vichy Fire Dept shirt on and I'm guessing she thought Vichy was a long way from Cuba...

Mile 3 I was glad to know we were close to the end there wasn't any spectators along the course however it was a pretty road to go down just wasn't much to keep your mind off the miles and HILLS.

When we rounded the last corner we could see the big rocker that was the finish line and I had not bothered to check my time at all my GPS on my Nike app wasn't picking up right and said I had only went .63 miles when we were at mile 2! I knew Bryan had told us we were holding at a 17min mile earlier on. I didn't honestly care about my time I was doing this for fun with a friend and we went at her pace.

Bryan, Laurie and I crossed the finish line together with a time of 1:09 it was his first race as a participant and the first one she had done in a long time. I was happy for them to have done it and glad to have been there with them. Her son came across not long after us and well it was his first race and he's hooked already looking for more races to do.

We stood and watched some of the others come in and then had a cookie and Gatorade. We found some fliers for more up coming races and have our sights on one in June. Its a 80's themed run in St. Louis looks like a lot of fun and well the 3 adults were children of the 80's and her son loves anything 80's.
It was still cold and cloudy once we finished but glad it didn't snow!

Here is the race shirt and my bib. Apparently they did bib numbers by you last name because all of us signed up exact same day...

Is it a race I would do again maybe it was very well organized had a nice big area at the finish line to not feel super crowded.

Was I happy with my finish time ah NO not really when I look at my age group results however I am still grouped with 19-29 and well some of those girls were crazy fast.

I may do one race next month before I turn 30 to be my farewell to that age group and move on to a different one.

Weekly Chase!

Once again its Monday where did the week and weekend go???????

Its also the last week of the month! Here were my goals from last week:

Goals for this week: Continue with my challenge goal of creating a routine for my big race. Getting there I have found that I am stronger than I think so I need to push harder and believe that I can do it.

Also adding in another goal: To get the house organized and cleaned and find a schedule to keep it that way. With having a new second job that may take me away on Saturdays or nights I want to be able to keep up with the cleaning and laundry without feeling overwhelmed. Got everything caught up at home including ALL laundry!

1-Drink 80oz of water daily (need to stop drinking late in the evening too) Done!

2-Bring lunch daily All but one day and that day I had chicken from Sonic.

3-Eat dinner at home each night not only to save money but to stay on healthy eating track. All nights but two and those two one was a salad and the other was a burger (was starving and well it looked good but didn't make me feel good)

4-Refresh on my EMT books and notes go over areas I know I need to restudy. UH BIG FAT FAIL. I was busy and stressed and know that I would stress more about trying to memorize the book. I know I "know" the info without a doubt but then always freak myself out when I am thinking about it however when on the job it just comes to me without thought...

5-Get at least 3 strength workouts in this week. Half success....

6-Get at least 3 cardio workouts in. Ha ha no.... Did a 4 mile race on Saturday and then a walk later in that day..... The darn weather isn't being very nice around here.

Goals for this week:

Last week for the challenge goal of getting a routine down for my big race in May. I feel like I am gaining a better idea of what I need to do and happy it don't take a gym to do it.

Other part of challenge goal is keeping house cleaned up nightly because Saturday is a 16 hour shift and Sunday is Easter Dinner at my house.

1-Challenge Goal- I joined a squat plank challenge and a plank a day challenge on Facebook. Which will keep me active for my goal of a routine for the big race.

2-Continue to bring lunch daily

3-Drink at least 80 oz of water

4-2 cardio workouts even if its on the dreaded treadmill at home.

5-Look over my EMT books a little this week prior to my shift on Saturday.

Thursday Randomness and Pictures

Last Thursday it was warm sunny and in the 70's... Today its cold windy snow headed our way and in the low 30's. For yesterday being the first day of Spring I think mother nature forgot.

Last Thursday evening I picked the kids up and surprised them by taking them to the park to play. I should have got pictures of them playing in the water but forgot.

Nathan LOVED the slide and I am pretty sure that the slide is the same one as was there when I was a kid!

Yes I took the picture and yes I was on the other end of it. Blake thought it was cool I would get on there... I realized quickly that I am no longer a young kid....

Noticed this afternoon that the Freezin for a Reason Facebook page uploaded some more pictures from last months race. I didn't tag myself or save all that I was in and I ended up in a ton of pictures. Sad thing is I didn't realize that many were out there taking pictures.

This one is quite a bit before race started since I hadn't put a jacket on yet. I think they had just got the water tank set up and those fire fighters on the right wanted me to see what I was going to jump in to. That was also prior to someone putting ice chunks in the water.

Yep never knew this one was taken either.... But while I usually dislike pictures of myself I don't mind this one. I like my calf muscle. I dislike my legs and always thought of my calf as big and was fat. I have been told several times people wished they had the muscles that I do in my calves ha I wish I had the skinny ones that would fit in cute tall boots... But in this picture I actually like it. I saw a few others that I liked as well but this one stood out to me.

Last Friday evening it was warm enough to sit out on the porch and the boys were having fun playing.  Nathan wanted bubba to give him a ride in the truck silly boys. You can see my grandparents house across the yard and road in the background. And some green grass popping up.

Nathan wanted his picture taken while he was riding so its a bit blurry but he was insistent that I get one of him moving.

Tomorrow I take him for preschool screening and I am a bit sad as he was my baby and now he is almost school age. He is super duper excited to get to go to school (hope that he gets in not sure how many 3 year olds are vying for the spots open). I think that if all goes well in the morning I may take him for breakfast before dropping him off at daycare.

Saturday is the race to the rocker 4 mile race. Still up in the air if we are walking it or if we will end up at the water station that the Emergency Workers Relief Fund is having.. I haven't trained any for this race as its "only" 4 miles. I really need to get better about training and find some races to actually run not just walk for fun...

Random Acts of Kindness

I haven't said much about a project that I am now a part of, Emergency Service Workers Relief Fund. It was the fund behind the Freezin for a Reason 5k I did last month. The fund is designed to help Emergency Service workers and their families in times of need (cancer, sickness etc.) I think its a great idea.

Laurie and I had talked some about doing 12 months of random acts of kindness to keep the name of the fund out there. Of course not many were interested in helping us but we are pushing ahead anyway hoping that others will join.

This month we decided to donate books to Tiger Cubs preschool. So this morning we got our books gathered up and headed in to the classroom. The kids were super excited to have a bunch of new books to look at and they were happy to see us. We sat in the floor with them and all the books and read with the kids.

Laurie is on bottom left and I am it the top left the kids swarmed us as soon as we sat down.

Surprisingly they all did well sharing the books with each other to look thru, the kids were all super sweet. I could have stayed there all day reading with them.

This little girl stayed next to me the whole time we were there. Kept picking up books for us to look thru she "read" them to me too.

It was nice getting to give back to the community we have books left that we will take to another preschool in a few weeks.

This Saturday Laurie and I will do the Race to the Rocker 4 mile and if all goes as planned a St. James Ambulance will be there with a table set up to hand out drinks part way thru the race.

Not sure what we will do for other months will all depend on if we get anyone willing to help I know we had thought about doing yard clean ups for elderly or helping at game night at the nursing homes.

I am excited to be a part of this and can't wait to see what this year will bring!

The Weekend!

Friday  of course went very very well and a awesome way to end the week with accomplishing a goal I had dreamed of for a very very long time!
Friday night I was still on cloud nine and the kids got along great all evening which was a rare treat!

Saturday I got up early and ran to the grocery store before the kids were up so much easier and cheaper to go alone..... Then I took the boys to a friends birthday party and after hearing girls screaming and screeching I am glad to have two boys!!!! As the day went on the more anxious and nervous I was getting for my first official time to work as an EMT. I got there early full of nerves and luckily the girl I was working with got there right after me. I had worked with her before when I was in school so that was a plus. We had a good time doing our standby at the cage fight. Would I ever pay money to go watch it nope probably not. Luckily we didn't end up having to patch anyone up that night. Although would be curious to see how many of them ended up in the ER later that night some looked pretty rough when they finished.
When we got there she gave me the keys and said I was driving us back! Ha me yeah ok........ But I sucked up the nerves and drove us back in the dark and pouring rain. I was more worried about backing the ambulance back in to the garage but with a little guidance from her I got it done!

Sunday Kenny and I went to Jeff City to do some shopping and to look for a few things we needed. We went to Chilis to eat and celebrate my new job! We got the boys' their Easter gifts and headed back home.

Weekly Chase

The weather where I live is bipolar.... It was warm enough to wear a dress Friday then Saturday the temps dropped like crazy. Saturday night started sleeting and then was cold with rain sleet thunder lightning all day yesterday. Today back to mid 30's really makes it hard to get workouts in on my lunch break.......

Goals from last week

Continue on the Challenge Goal of figuring out a workout routine to get me ready for the Fugitive Run in May which is less than 80 days away!

1-Continue with 80oz of water each day (still soda free for 11 days now) Well I caved on soda however I don't crave it. I decided that I would just have it on occasion or when super stressed.

2-Bring my lunch daily to work and eat healthy each meal at night. Yep got this one and the one evening I got McDonald's for the boys I got grilled chicken for me.

3-Get in 3 workouts during lunch breaks this week. Woohoo accomplished this as well two strength workouts and one 2mile walk on a lunch break.

4-Track my food in myfitness pal, I have tried this before and it becomes a struggle of falling back in to old habits of not eating enough and trying to have as many calories left at night as possible. Doing ok with this managing to get in almost all my calories and making sure I am not hungry at the end of the day.

5-Finish buying stuff to put in the box to mail to my best friend in Hawaii and mail it out. Fail....I have to get it mailed out this week just need to find a few more things to put in there.

6-Since its daylight later make time to play with the kids in the evening. We haven't been able to play outside much with the crazy weather but I have made time with them in the evening before they go to bed to do something they want or to watch them play.

Goals for this week: Continue with my challenge goal of creating a routine for my big race.

Also adding in another goal: To get the house organized and cleaned and find a schedule to keep it that way. With having a new second job that may take me away on Saturdays or nights I want to be able to keep up with the cleaning and laundry without feeling overwhelmed.

1-Drink 80oz of water daily (need to stop drinking late in the evening too)

2-Bring lunch daily

3-Eat dinner at home each night not only to save money but to stay on healthy eating track.

4-Refresh on my EMT books and notes go over areas I know I need to restudy.

5-Get at least 3 strength workouts in this week.

6-Get at least 3 cardio workouts in.

Super super super excited today!!!!!!!!!!

This week couldn't have ended any better! I have been wanting to find a part time EMT job locally since I became certified back in July of 2012. However I was slightly picky as I didn't want to work an hour away from home since its not a high paying job the gas money would eat the pay check.

So I held out hope for two local places St. James and Rolla and really wanted to work for St. James. Loved doing clinicals there and wanted to work in the community I grew up in. However they rarely have any openings but I never gave up hope. Well last week I placed a call and found out there may be an irregular part time position open and that I would hear back next week (this week)

Move on to last night got a message to call the Ambulance base this morning around 10am and to see if I could take an earlier lunch hour. Well I called and had an interview scheduled for 11! I was beyond excited and nervous! Got all the paperwork filled out and set up to start orientation tomorrow night by covering a cage fight. Then next shift will be the 30th of this month for 16 hours. After 40 hours of that and 4 hours in office I will get to do 24 hour shifts.

This is so so huge for me and such a dream come true. Its been a goal of mine since I was a kid and now its a reality.

The long week

This week has been hard but have realized I have some pretty amazing friends both new and old. I am trying to lose weight get healthy and strong the right way this time. Not by restricting calories or trying to workout to end the day with a negative number on Myfitness Pal. Its a struggle one I usually survive for a few days and then quit. Or end up on the cycle of skipped meals for days/weeks.

For the last two weeks I have been using the app and logging my food. I haven't done much in the workout area but I am ok with that I think that I need to get food under good control and be ok with eating 1200 calories a day and adding in cardio and strength little at a time. I have also switched up what I have been eating trading out empty nutritional value high calorie foods (that I would eat just to get some calories in toward my 1200 goal) for foods that are good for me and for my body. I had gave up soda for 11 days and then caved and had one.

Monday was super stressful at work and when I get stressed one of two things happens. I either skip meals or I have a fountain dr. pepper. With the encouragement of two amazing friends I ate my meals and stayed away from soda. However we had a training meeting at the fire dept that night and I sent out a text to a friend that if they got themselves a soda for the meeting would they please bring me one. It didn't taste that good but it was an odd relief and I got thru the meeting without strangling anyone.. I think that if I hadn't had that soda there would have been one person who would have got a nice piece of my mind.

Tuesday I woke up expecting to crave a soda and well I didn't so I decided that soda would be ok for special treats like dinners out or auctions in the summer. However Tuesday at work was WAY more stressful than Monday was. But I refrained from falling to the soda or skipping meals. Once again thanks to a friend that was very helpful in keeping me from going off deep end. I haven't known her very long but she is amazing and I am SO glad our paths crossed! Tuesday night didn't sleep had bad dreams and one bad dream that I hadn't had in over 14 years that kept me awake for 2 hours.

Wednesday was a little better than Tuesday but not much I did end up not eating enough at breakfast so for lunch I had some chicken strips and a soda. And all was right in the world my brain was functiniong from having the protein of the chicken and being full and the soda took the edge off the stress. My friend texted me and said it was ok to have a soda cause once in a while we need our blankie. SO SO true.  The evening was good kids were pretty well  behaved and played together nicely (been a struggle for the last couple weeks). My best friend sent me a text with a treadmill challenge that was 10 min long and I did it well I had to modify a bit but it was done and I pushed hard and I had done 10 minutes of legs and ab/core work.
Ended up having a ambulance assist fire call a little after 10 so I went to it got home around 11 and went to bed. No bad dreams but still dreams that caused little to no sleep.

This morning I woke up yes tired but not as stressed feeling which I am glad of and so far the day has been way better than the whole week.

Maybe I am finally figuring this all out and I can't even to begin how nice it is to have a support system of great friends and online friends like Mindy from Road Runner Girl!  Who told me I was awesome yesterday which was something I needed to hear. I often feel alone in this journey but I realized yesterday I am not alone. I have a lot of people who believe in me even when I don't believe in myself.

The weekend.

Why is it that Saturday and Sunday go much faster than any two days in the work week....??????

Friday night I braved two grocery stores with the kids in tow. They were cranky and tired and it tested every last ounce of patience I had. Not to mention both stores were super busy! So not long after getting home they were in bed sound asleep and I had a bit of quiet time to relax.

Saturday morning I got up and went to my massage appointment. Its only the second time I have ever had a massage. My first was amazing and my amazing hubby bought me a gift certificate to the same place for me as a Christmas gift. So I made sure I was the first appointment of the day and go figure the girl was late... Not a great start to my day and her reason for being late was she had to take a shower and eat a good breakfast!!! A simple sorry I am late would have been fine. She did an ok job with massage however the rest of the day and yesterday and today I feel like jello. My legs are achy and hurt and spots on my back and neck feel bruised to the point it hurts if something touches the skin there. So lesson learned I don't want her again.....
After getting home from town and another trip to the grocery store to get what I forgot night before I get a text from Blake's friend's mom asking if Blake could come and play. I agreed and he was over the moon happy! So I met her in town and Nathan was a bit unhappy Blake was leaving so I offered to take him to the park for a bit and he said no he wanted to go home and play. Well not long after getting home he was sound asleep. I was supposed to get Blake at 7 however I get a text asking if he can stay the night which I agreed.

Nathan wanted to go across the road to see Grandpa and Grandma so we walked over and he decided he wanted to  play with bubba's play dough (apparently his is better even tho they both have the same colors...) Grandma asked me if I wanted to go thru her china cabinets and pick out the dishes and antiques I wanted. I will do a separate post about this sometime. Nathan and I stayed until after dark and headed home to eat some dinner. He still wasn't happy Blake wasn't home but didn't complain to much.

Sunday morning around 1am we got a big storm lots of thunder and lightning. Woke me up and ended up waking up everyone in my house! Nathan screamed when the lightning popped real close to the house and I was up with him for awhile. Of course time change also happened that night so it was odd being awake when your phone goes from 1:59 am to 3am!!! Sunday morning I was majorly dragging and lacking energy.

Since Kenny had to go help a friend work they decided to go eat breakfast and Nathan and I tagged along he had fun being the only one with us and he likes Kenny's friend. After breakfast Nathan and I drove around a bit to kill time before picking Blake up it was nasty and rainy all day. We spent some time all 3 of us snuggling on the couch watching tv until it quit raining. Then I allowed them to go out and play in the water and mud (now I have mud covered clothes and shoes to clean but they had fun).

While they were playing outside I purged my closet and dresser drawers of clothes that either didn't fit or that I haven't wore in months. I got rid of two huge trash bags and could have probably had another full but I have issues with letting go of some items.

Weekly Chase!

Wow another week has flown by and the weekend went way way to fast. The daylight savings time made yesterday feel like it went on forever or maybe that is because it stormed Sunday morning really early and I was awake to see my phone jump forward.....

My goals from last week were:

Challenge Goal Get in to a good workout routine that includes cardio and strength training. If I want to prove all the negative people wrong that say I can't do this race I need a good solid routine I can stick to.

1-Challenge goal-Plan out a routine that will work research workouts that can be done at home with little to no equipment. Totally failed at this one.... I am still lost as to what to do if someone said ok here is a plan do it I could totally do it but trying to devise one on my own ha ya not working so well....

2-Continue to drink 80oz of water daily. Yep every day and even did good over the weekend.

3-Get at least two walk/runs in on my lunch hour this week weather looks to be nicer and my cough is getting better (I think) Well got a 2 mile in on my lunch Monday in snow and slush then Thursday evening tried to get a workout in on the treadmill ten min in the boys were both fighting and kept coming in to tell me their side of what happened.

4-Spend time with the kids of an evening doing something they choose. Success! Several evenings we had snuggle time watching their favorite tv show Duck Dynasty. Better than some of the crazy cartoons they like. Then yesterday the three of us laid on the couch for a long time watching tv.

5-Stay away from unhealthy fast foods. Yep did so so I let the kids have McDonald's on Thursday evening and I had a salad from there and it was pretty good. One day at lunch a hamburger sounded good well I ate it and never ever again had the worst stomach issues all afternoon.

Goals for this week:::
Continue on the Challenge Goal of figuring out a workout routine to get me ready for the Fugitive Run in May which is less than 80 days away!

1-Continue with 80oz of water each day (still soda free for 11 days now)

2-Bring my lunch daily to work and eat healthy each meal at night.

3-Get in 3 workouts during lunch breaks this week.

4-Track my food in myfitness pal, I have tried this before and it becomes a struggle of falling back in to old habits of not eating enough and trying to have as many calories left at night as possible.

5-Finish buying stuff to put in the box to mail to my best friend in Hawaii and mail it out.

6-Since its daylight later make time to play with the kids in the evening.

Numbers......

For some reason today I have been infatuated on numbers.. I had been texing a friend not realizing I was obsessed with numbers today and well I think its my way of dealing with stress. My old way of dealing with stress was soda and since I am on day 7 of no soda I guess numbers took center stage.

Last night as I finished entering my calories in to myfitness pal I had 500+ left out of my 1500 for the day (no wonder I was hungry most of the day). I have to watch this infatuated with numbers because I end up trying to have more and more calories left at the end of the day or try to workout enough to have a negative number by bed time.....

This morning while texing my friend I told her we are on day 7 of no soda. Have 17 days until our next race. I have 80 days until my fugitive run (which I am still freaking out over) and 86 days until June 1 I cant say what June first means for us but its a goal date in a way. She replies back aren't you full of stressors lol....

This afternoon I realized its 49 days until my 30th birthday. Not sure why but 30 has been bugging me for quite sometime. I guess everyone has a year that they aren't looking forward to. I wanted to be at my goal weight have a job I love etc. Well I haven't mastered anything on my "list" and its frustrating. However I just took the time to look on what I have accomplished in the last year and what I have ahead this year and maybe 30 won't be so bad.

I won't even get in to the numbers on my scale that I despise lately or the number of people who have told me I am crazy or stupid for trying the fugitive run or the number of people that don't think I am strong enough or capable of doing it.

REALLY need to figure out a training plan for my obstacle course race any suggestions greatly appreciated. I would be great if someone said ok here's a plan and follow it... I am NOT good at trying to create my own for one I know I won't push as hard as I should and can.

Wednesday ramblings and surprise visits

Been soda free for 6 days and while I am not really craving one I would drink one if I could! The headaches have gotten more bearable and my moodiness is improved. Loving the Zipfizz and will defiantly be ordering some in the near future.

Last night we had company and it was a surprise for the boys and well ended up being a surprise for me too. Dwayne and Connie hadn't seen our house since it was completed so we were excited to have them come over. Dwayne had drew up the house plans for us when we started the house. My surprise came from Ashlyne and her brother Zach coming with them. I hadn't got to see her in a long time and the boys were super excited to see all of them. Ashlyne babysat for Blake when he was young and then for both of them when Nathan was a baby.

Blake was riding Zach like a bull I think they both got very wore out! Blake has been wanting to be a bullrider since he was 2 and hasn't changed a bit.

Nathan wanted to join in to and he borrowed Dwayne's hat to wear while he rode the bull.

Nathan and his Nonna he wanted her to stay the night with him. Maybe that is because she snuck him drinks of her sundrop.... :)

Nathan was showing Nonna and Ashlyne how to play the Nintento DS.

We really enjoyed their visit and the boys wore themselves completely out and was asleep 20 minutes after they all left.

I signed up for another race this month its March 23 and its the Race to the Rocker its a semi local race only a 30 min drive from home. Its a bit odd as its a 4 mile race never done anything but 5k and half marathon. A friend of mine is doing the race with me and we are doing it for fun she has never done more than a 5k distance before so I think it will be a fun day with a good friend.

Its less than 80 days until my Fugitive Run and I am still hoping I can find at least one person to do this race with me. From what I read some obstacles need teamwork and well being super short I know I will need assistance on some of the things. I am scared of this course it will have up to 85 obstacles!

A nice surpise

Yesterday the receptionist told me I had a package that came in the mail. I wasn't expecting anything and knew I hadn't ordered anything. Before seeing the package I figured it would be papers that we were waiting on for a file for the office.

Much to my surprise it was a package from Rachelle at Living the Sweat Life. I have followed her blog for quite sometime and she has done a few blog posts about Zipfizz. I have often wanted to try it but I am one of those people who don't like to spend a lot of money on something I am not sure if I will like. In my surprise package yesterday was 5 tubes of Zipfizz! And it couldn't have came at a better day! I had gave up soda on March 1 cold turkey just quit and yesterday was the hardest day thus far. Between stress of work and being exhausted I wanted/needed a soda. I tried the orange flavor yesterday and loved it, tasted like orange soda or tang (loved that stuff as a kid). This morning I am trying the grape and I like it too!

It has a slight fizz to it so it makes you feel like your having soda which is nice. I do forsee myself ordering this soon!
Thank you very very much Rachelle for the package yesterday it was just what I needed to get thru the Monday afternoon slump and start to day off great!

I even got a lady at work to try a drink of the orange yesterday so I may have another person hooked :)

The Weekly Chase

How is it that the weekends seem to fly by so fast? I feel like I was just at work and now its Monday again.

Goals for last week were:

1-Challenge Goal- Continue to have family time and not let my mood from work affect my evening at home.  About 90% accomplished

2-Get in at least 3 workouts this week combo of cardio and strength training I wrote this when I was trying to deny that I was sick. Ended up coughing non stop all week and dr said I had ugly upper respiratory infection and then shook her head when she asked how I got it without having a cold first. So no real workouts we did an auction yesterday so I moved and loaded heavy coolers twice and then loaded and unloaded a generator twice. So I will count it as at least one workout unless coughing counts....

3-Challenge Goal-Be in a better mood and be a better wife this week.  pretty successful with this as well. My mood was slightly better than the week before and even with being sick I didn't let things upset me.

4- Drink at least 80 oz of water daily. YES!! Being sick and coughing makes you very thirsty :)

5-Make eating healthy a priority at least 90% of the week. Yep accomplished that one

6-Sign up for a race that scares me (there will be a post on this soon) Signed up for the race and signed the death waiver!

The challenge goals for this month are to Make it Happen "I want you to think of one or two LARGE goals this month that you really want to see happen. I mean really."

3-Get at least two walk/runs in on my lunch hour this week weather looks to be nicer and my cough is getting better (I think)

4-Spend time with the kids of an evening doing something they choose.

5-Stay away from unhealthy fast foods.
