Yesterday...

I have so many posts I really want to get to. Such as progress on our house and upload pictures, Blake's Kindergarten graduation etc. But yesterday well that was one heck of an afternoon. Rolla was under a tornado warning for almost two hours! I got back from working out sat down to eat my lunch and the sirens started going off. I was like ok that's strange because I had just drove across town and saw no storms or even any dark clouds out. I already work in the basement but my office is on a corner of the building and has 3 huge glass windows. So my boss told us all to get in the middle room of our basement. We kept checking radar on the laptop and phone two of us had the scanner going on our phone. And well I was on my phone off an on with the fire dept in Vichy trying to find out what was happening there and making sure everyone that I knew in the warned areas were aware of the danger.
I admit I HATE storms and usually totally freak out but yesterday I stood in my office and watched out the window and saw three separate times clouds trying to rotate and form in to funnel clouds and tornado's. I had only ever seen such on tv never in real life and I can tell you I would rather just continue seeing them on tv...

This is a picture from my phone that I got while watching the first cloud rotate and form.

The three clouds sticking down started to rotate and came together, I wasn't able to get a good picture after they combined and I took this from my phone so quality isn't great.

I had texted a friend of mine who is also a deputy in Maries County to see what they were hearing he was like um what storm... He was on his way to St. Charles to get a prisoner and had no clue of what was going on in Rolla, Vichy and Vienna.

Then this morning April sent me this picture via email and well it shows a different cloud one I didn't see was right on top of our office!!!
I really hope that the bad storms and tornado's are done and gone for at least the weekend. I could go without seeing anything like this for a very long long time!

House Progress Finally!!!!

This weekend we had  huge progress on our house. After going thru the fall and winter with nothing happening its so nice to see a roof on it. Even though it rained all weekend we still managed to get the sheeting up and then the roofer came and worked right behind us all weekend to get the shingles on!! I will take some pictures and post soon!!

Today I get to leave work at noon to eat lunch with Kenny then we are heading to the lumber yard in Freeburg to pick out our doors and windows. Seems so surreal to finally be to the point of ordering the doors and windows not just looking in a book. I am also very nervous about choosing the right door that I will love for ever. Windows are pretty simple we have all standard size other than kitchen and bathroom but still I am nervous we will get ones we won't like 20 years down the road.

The next step will be picking out siding and deciding if we want to brick the front of the house and garage. We know it will look snazzy but the $$$ part will be the factor. A long time friend of ours is a awesome brick layer and he told us awhile back he would help us out.

Saturday we were very grateful to have our friend Dwayne over to be the "cut man" for the sheeting. Jason was up on the roof shouting out things that made no sense to me and Dwayne was like ok here you go... I guess carpenters have their own lingo??? You would hear so many inches from the left and rip it.. I was lost but now I know why Kenny had a rough time when he was the cut man one day for Jason's house. We are very blessed to have such great friends who are willing to give up a Saturday to help us with our house.

Can't wait to get some pictures uploaded of the progress. I want to wait until its sunny to take the final picture of the house with shingles on. The dreary clouds don't make for a pretty picture (or maybe I am just strange wanting a bright sunny day to show my new shingles)

Crazy Busy!

Never thought that things could be so crazy and busy that I would find myself scheduling a lunch with my husband just so we can have time to talk! Pretty sure its been at least two weeks since we have had uninterrupted time that we could talk about things. Between my volunteering with the Fire Dept for auctions and dinners and building a new house that keeps him busy we have no time. Next week he will be gone the first half of the week for schooling out of town then Thursday is Blake's Kindergarten graduation which we are both attending.
Monday I am taking off early so we can go order our exterior doors and all of our windows we need to pick out brick etc. I am so glad that our house is taking off but geez adding that to a busy schedule will take lots of patience and lots of planning on my part.

Last night patience was lacking and the kids were worn out tired hungry and wanted their daddy (mainly because I told Blake no on things that he thought daddy would overrule on) I am very happy and thankful to have two happy healthy boys. And sure wouldn't trade mommy hood for the world but there are those days that test every last ounce of strength I have and nights you count down the minutes until bedtime.

Very thankful that both boys are flexible and don't get to bent out of shape when our normal routine shifts and changes. They pretty much go with the flow sometimes better than I do, I am a set in stone plan person. Like knowing what when and where things will happen, however I am learning that I will have to change some and adjust to accepting change.

School will be out in a couple short weeks and there is so much I want to take the kids to see and do on weekends. I plan on taking a couple vacation days to take Blake to do special things that Nathan isn't old enough to partake in like Six Flags and Big Surf (however I need to get some serious exercise and dieting done before I am seen in public in a swim suit) Then things I want to take them both to do like the zoo and Grant's Farm and possibly take Blake to a car race in Lebanon.

Mother's Day Weekend

This was the only weekend out of the month that didn't have set plans for auctions, dinners or any other plans.

Saturday Kenny and a couple friends finished setting the trusses on our house and getting it ready to put the roof on this weekend. My uncle came from Illinois to give my Grandma her mother's day gift and to give my Grandpa the gift that we all went in on for his birthday and father's day. He had mentioned awhile back that he saw the advertisement for Kindle and thought it would be good. He likes to read but has problem seeing small print. Well I talked him out of it fully knowing I had a plan up my sleeve! He was shocked to get it and excited to try it. However I bet I will be getting several phone calls to come help him with it. I gave my mom her mother's day gift and well she wasn't very excited about it and didn't like it. I had spent a good deal of time picking her out a pair of ear rings they were a small silver loop with the MOM in gold letters in the center. Thought she could wear them with anything needless to say that spoiled my mood on the day. We all then went to eat dinner which for me was a disaster me with two tired boys at a restaurant that was a buffet and no help from family...
Blake decided he wanted to go home with my mom and step dad so he could catch up on farming so he spent the night with them Saturday night.

Sunday morning Nathan slept until 9 and so did I, it was so very nice to sleep in. Kenny fixed us chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. Nathan and I headed off to church while Kenny headed out to catch up on mowing. After church I was invited to go to lunch with Don, Brenda and her sister Linda. After the dinner I had the day before I was not looking forward to being the solo parent at a resturant. But Nathan did great he loves Don and Brenda and was a very good little boy. That afternoon Nathan and I headed to our new house to see Kenny and Blake. Nathan and I picked up some rocks and moved them and Blake helped his Great Grandma plant some flowers and played in the dirt.

Not a lot of exciting things but it was a good weekend to just do what ever.

Auction Weekend

I realize its Thursday and I am just now having time to blog about my weekend.... Still exhausted from the long busy weekend.

Friday night I met April after work and she took the boys home with her. Blake had been looking forward to it all week and well I wasn't sure how Nathan would do getting in another car and leaving without me. All he asked for was his blanket and he told me bye. After that I met our auction crew at the Fire Dept and we loaded up all that we could for Saturday's auction. Kenny spent the evening running around getting things ready for setting trusses then we had to make a late night trip to Walmart for sandwich making things and sodas for him and his helpers.

I am NOT an early morning get up and go person so for me to get up at 4:30 get dressed and be functional by 5:15 was hard hard hard!!! However I managed and while half of our crew isn't morning people we survived the load up without much arguing. Can't say that for my car ride there as I was sitting in between to non morning people and one of which was a bit argumentative. But I survived the trip, we arrived in Sullivan around 7:30 and was up and cooking by 8:30. We knew it would be a busy day and we were short on help but the day went real smooth and I worked my pretty pink tongs hard and they held up quite well. We didn't pack up and leave there until after 7pm. I wasn't sure how much help Kenny had for setting trusses or how far they got. The closer to home I got the more excited I became so at 10 pm we drove to our new house so he could show what they accomplished. I was very proud of what 3 guys got done in one windy day!

Sunday morning I woke up way early and felt like a child on Christmas morning I wanted to go look at the trusses and take pictures and see it all in the day light. After making a trip to town and then seeing our house it was time for me to head to our second auction. We were all exhausted and grumpy but we had a good day and sold lots of food. I even got some goodies from the auction a super neat tricycle for Blake that has big tires that go well in grass and gravel. I also got several old metal tonka toys at a good price. They look rough but they still work and Blake loves them. We ended up getting soaked midway thru the sale and it didn't seem to hamper the people standing bidding on stuff and sure didn't hamper their appetite.

The boys had so much fun with April and Mike on Friday night and Saturday, Blake went fishing and drove a big tractor. Nathan had a four wheeler ride and lots of outdoor play time. Saturday night Connie and Dwayne had the boys and they also had Desmon over to play with Blake. Those boys play so well together and Blake was excited that they got to camp out in the living room by them selves... Sunday it was much to chilly for the boys to be at the auction so they spent the day with my in laws and had lots of fun. I was sure glad to see them Sunday evening but even more glad to know they had so much fun the whole weekend.
