The boys weekend

This past weekend some dear friends of ours "borrowed" our kids for the weekend. Of course the boys look forward to the weekends they get to spend with Mike and April, and Dwayne and Connie. I'm sure they don't get spoiled at all :) This time Blake thought he was such a grown up he was able to go with Mike to get feed and help shovel it. Which anything farming related is right up his alley. Nathan told me he had fun and wanted to go back to Mike's. Saturday night they were at Dwayne and Connie's another one of the boys favorite places to visit. Blake informed me that Dwayne's chocolate chip pancakes were better than the ones we make.

When we picked them up Sunday morning they were excited to see us but of course wanted to stay longer. We went to town to get groceries before meeting my Mom and Mitch for lunch at the Stockyards. Nathan decided to stay and help daddy work on the new house and I took Blake to Vienna. Grandpa Mitch had a surprise for Blake and what a surprise it was! I already knew of their plans so that I could pack his bag accordingly but Blake just thought he was spending spring break farming. So during lunch Grandpa told him they were going to Branson for a few days and staying in a motel with an indoor pool. They had plans to go ride the duck and to go to a music show, wish I would have thought to get a picture of his face!

Blake called me Tuesday morning to tell me about their trip so far and said that he got to drive the duck and all about the pool in the motel. He decided to stay a few days after they got back to help Grandpa catch up on farming. So I still haven't seen him but he did call yesterday to say he was having fun.

Nathan likes the first day or so that Blake is gone because he gets to play with all the toys and sleeps in Blake's bed but I can tell he is missing his big brother. And I know Blake is missing Nathan weather he will admit it or not.

I'm really grateful for having friends who are like family that like to spend time with boys,  they always look forward to those weekends.
And for grandparents who are able to take the time to do special things with them as I am sure in another year both boys will be going on trips with them.

Ambulance Ride Alongs

Wow I realized this morning I have a lot to catch up on.  Class is going great we got our mid term grades and I have a 94.8% which I am pleased about.

I did my first ambulance time for class on March 10 I was nervous going in. I was the first in my class to start and we weren't as far along in our book as she normally is when we start doing clinicals. However I tried to put that all aside and go for it. It was a very busy day I was there from 7 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. Before truck checks and well before some even were clocked in we got a call out on the other side of Edgar Springs. By the time we got out there took him to Texas County Hospital and back to Rolla it was a 2 hour call. Which I guess is normal and why they call Edgar Springs 2 hour E calls. The rest of the day flew worked with a great group of people. I was nervous while taking blood pressure and realized when your heart is racing its hard to hear their pulse.

This past Saturday while my kids were having fun with friends I worked a 15 hour shift on the ambulance. The day started out pretty slow and then was fairly steady. Worked with several EMT and Paramedics that I hadn't ever met before. The calls we had were really good ones and ones that really tested my abilities. I was with two different crews for the two hardest calls and they were both pleased with how I responded. The last call of the day was once again on the other side of Edgar Springs and we ended up having to fly that guy out. While it was awesome seeing the helicopter land and take off wasn't to awesome for the patient. I was glad that was the last call of my shift it was a whole lot to take in.

I've loved every minute of the ambulance so far even when its slow and you go outside and wash trucks or mop the floor. I have some more time scheduled with Rolla but I am also going to schedule some time to ride with St. James.

5 Question Friday!

1. Are you looking forward to the time change this weekend? Honestly didn't know time changed this weekend until last night in class! So no I am not really looking forward to it but does mean more daylight after work.

2. Are you getting the new iPad/would you want a iPad? Nope really have no need or desire for one.

3. If money was not a problem, what is the one thing you would splurge on? Pay off my mortgage

4. How did you and the Mr. (or Mrs.) meet? At his grandma's place his cousin and my mom talked him in to taking me out with him one night. Guess its a good thing they did we have been together since October 1998.

5. Summer is right around the corner. Bikini or one-piece? Tankini but like the board shorts style bottoms. Bikinis are to hard when you have kids and one piece I still wear shorts with.
