Happenings

So far day one morning one with no soda is going but I am sure dragging! I had some unsweet tea this morning and will have my one soda with lunch. I can say my mood and attitude hasn't been the greatest, not sure if that's a combination of stress with work and being over tired or from lack of sugar in my system.

Last night I placed the final order for all the ceiling fans for our house minus our master bedroom and I should get to pick them up tonight when I pay for them. I am always leery ordering things out of a book that you can't actually see so I really hope we like what we picked out.

Heard from our cabinet guy that hopefully next week he will be bringing some of our base cabinets out to install makes it feel so close to being done. That is until you go to thinking of all the little things like wiring the breaker box, hooking up all the outlets and switches. Painting and installing all the interior doors and baseboard. But it is finally coming together and all the small steps really look like big ones now.

School is still going great I still love it, I have to keep telling myself that some of what we are going over is things I already knew or understand. But that there are many in the class who have never been around EMT's or Fire Fighters so its a whole new world for them. Also realized I am the only one in class who had already bought all of their supplies for clinicals and only one who has turned in all the paperwork, shot records, drug screen etc. I thought that when we got the letter stating this is what you need that it needed to be done by the first night of class.

I got a super sweet email from a good friend yesterday morning that made me cry! But also made me super excited. Since my little boys will be looking all handsome in their little tuxes I best step my game up and get to picking myself out a dress to wear to the wedding. And hope that I am able to get a good picture of Kenny, Me and the boys. Blake still doesn't know about getting to be a part of "his" April's big day but told me a while back he needed a suit to wear so he could be handsome for her.

A love of mine... one that needs to subside.....

Well I have a Dr. Pepper obsession/addiction/love. I used to be hooked on Mountain Dew and gave it up in June and well now replaced it with Dr. Pepper the fountain variety is the best. Was just one of a morning and for one dollar I could get a 32 oz with lots of crushed ice then it went to wanting one with lunch as well.

The sugar crash mid afternoon is really dragging me down, well that is on the days I don't have another to keep that from happening. Not only that if I have one late afternoon I don't sleep well at night. While I love it I know I have to break up with it. Maybe not cold turkey but defiantly cut back and limit to once a day.

A blog I recently started following had a post about zipfizz a natural energy drink and I am really contemplating trying it as it only has a few calories compared to 200+ per fountain soda I get. Plus it comes in some yummy sounding flavors.

So starting tomorrow I am going to try and cut back to just one fountain soda per day and try drinking unsweet tea again which I love but soda tastes so much better lately.

Tomorrow's mood could prove to be interesting because the more stressed I get the more I want a soda. But I will hold strong to the will power and limit it to one, and I will probably go ahead and order some zipfizz to try.

Great Grandparents

I feel so blessed that my Grandparents are still in good health and able to spend time with their Great Grandsons. I have many fond memories with my Grandma working in the garden or flower beds taking long walks up the gravel road and fishing in the ponds. And lots of memories with my Grandpa driving the tractor feeding cows, stacking fire wood.
Now both of my boys get to enjoy those same things with them. Yesterday afternoon I let Blake stay with them while I ran some errands, being nice out I knew they would be outside doing something.
When I arrived with Nathan, Blake informed me that Grandma can run! I pictured my Grandma running up the gravel road with Blake and smiled because she used to do that with me only 20+ years ago. Then he went on to tell me that he and Grandpa worked cows (they just pretended in the cattle chute) and of course Grandma had chocolate milk and cookies.
I think this summer I will rarely see the boys since Grandma and Grandpa are right across the road and of course their house is more fun than home.
I am glad we are able to have our new house right across from them, me being their only grandchild and Blake and Nathan their only Great Grandsons they will get a lot of enjoyment out of us being so close. However my waistline may take a hit because Grandma still loves to cook meals and desserts and send them home with us and I am sure this summer we will be eating dinner there quite a bit.

A baby no more....

The last of the baby stuff has been removed from our house. I decided Sunday evening to take Nathan's crib down. He had never tried to climb out (and I may be crazy for taking it down). When he stays with Grandparents he sleeps on the couch, sleeping bag, tent with Blake or on a little fold out couch thing (all depends on which Grandparent he is with) So I figured it would be no big deal take down his bed put his baby bed mattress on the floor and things would be golden... Yeah not so much.
He watched me take down his bed I explained he was now a big boy and didn't need a baby bed he agreed. Saying Nate Nate not a baby anymore.

I put him down extra early the first night knowing he would probably test his boundaries by getting up and playing or coming out of the room. Yep I was right he was up and down over a dozen times by 3am. Finally he went out and slept until 7am. Second night thought it would be better since Blake was also home heck Blake was out like a light well before Nathan ever considered calming down. He was up a couple times and then at midnight woke up screaming and running out of the room. He refused to go back in the room and had a total meltdown not sure what scared him but I put him on the couch and out he went until 6:30.

There is no way that I am putting the crib back up for one its already packed away in storage and two he will be in a twin bed when we move in a few months. I honestly don't remember Blake having much issue with switching out of a crib and we switched him much sooner. So my debate is pull out the play pen and try him in there until he feels secure enough to sleep without something to touch on all sides or ride this out and have lots of sleepless nights???

Next to come is potty training and he has already started to show interest and already used the potty once, I know you can't force it up on kids but boy the day of no more diapers will be SOOO nice!

It was a bit sad when I took down the crib because I knew that meant I had no more babies and that Nathan was now a toddler but also exciting knowing that phase of bottles sleepless nights and teething are behind us.

First Night of Class

Well the first night of class has came and gone and I loved it!!! I was SO nervous waiting in the parking lot to go in (I didn't want to be the first one there). But once I walked in and went in to the exact classroom I spent two years in during highschool I was right at home. People kept filtering in and no one said a word to anyone was a bit awkward and strange. Once class started we had to stand up and introduce ourselves but I am not the youngest I actually feel sort of old some of the people are only 17! Then there are some who have kids my age its a nice mix of people.

Thankfully the teacher is super cool and we get a 10-15 minute break every hour so it makes the 4 hour class not seem quite as long. But they could get better chairs.

We already have a chapter to read in our book as well as two homework assignments. Boy oh boy its been years since I have had homework so I will be spending lunch hours and early morning to get it all accomplished. However all the late night and early mornings will be well worth it!

I was so excited when I got home last night I couldn't sleep at all was wide awake at 4 (should have got up and studied but kept thinking I would fall back asleep).

Tonight is the night I have been waiting for.......!!!!!!

Tonight is a night I have been looking forward to for months, at 6pm I will be starting my EMT class! I am a mix of nerves and excitement about this new adventure.

Very ready to be in the classroom and officially be on my way to something new and exciting. However I am a very shy and quiet person so for me to be going in to a class with a bunch of strangers is stressful to say the least.

So I will just hold on and jump in with both feet, I have set a goal for myself to be in the top 3 of the class. Actually hoping for 1st but top 3 will do :) Figure if I have a goal that is set that will take away from the fears of the unknown.

However I have checked and rechecked my list of things I need to take with me a million times today to be sure I am not forgetting anything. Even messaged a friend on facebook last night to be sure I didn't need to take my stethoscope with me for the first night.

New Year's Weekend

Wow 2012 already, last year really seemed to fly by way way to fast for my liking. However this year brings lots of new things my way and I am super excited.

Friday night I picked Blake up from my in-laws house and drove him to my parent's house so he could spend the last weekend of Christmas break with his Grandpa working on a fence they had started earlier in the week. Nathan was at daycare so I picked him up first and in the drive to my in-laws my mom called and asked me to leave both boys there for the night. Anyone who knows my mom knows this is a very rare occasion. Normally they don't have both boys at the same time and never over night. It was only the second time Nathan has spent the night there. I was a bit nervous about it but I went ahead and dropped both off.

Saturday morning I got up early headed to Vienna to pick Nathan up and then dropped him off at my in-laws as they wanted some quality time with him and his Grandpa wanted to take advantage of the nice day and ride four wheelers and play outside. So Kenny and I took advantage of not having the kids and set in to painting our master bedroom. It literally took all day to get it done we kept having interruptions. We hadn't really made any plans to do anything for New Year's going to the local bar and grill just didn't seem like something we wanted to spend money on. So we ended up going out to eat with another couple and their two girls (yes it felt strange going out to eat with friends and their kids when we didn't have ours). Then we went back to our house to play wii and have a couple margaritas. It was a very nice evening and something I could see us doing again in the future. In the 12 years Kenny and I have been together there have only been two New Year's Eve that we haven't went out. One was in 1999 and the other was this year.

Sunday morning bright and early Blake called ready to come home so we picked him up and headed to Lowes for more paint and took him to lunch. In the two weeks he had been out of school he had only been home one night! Of course he was over tired and running on a sugar high from being at Grandma and Grandpa's for so long needless to say it was a long afternoon. We picked Nathan up and the boys and I spent the afternoon at home while Kenny finished up our bedroom walls.

Monday the boys and I got to sleep in well if you can call getting woke up by Blake at 7 sleeping in. Nathan didn't wake up until after 8 though so it was still a quiet morning. Mid afternoon we drove to the new house and I mopped three of the bedrooms, the boys bathroom and the hallway trying to get rid of some of the annoying drywall dust. Then I got brave I put primer on the walls in our master bath, about a quarter of the way thru my Grandma walked over and the boys of course wanted to go back to her house so they stayed there for a couple hours while I finished the bathroom.

It was a good weekend however I am glad school is back in session and we can get back to our normal routine. The last two weeks I have felt like a taxi cab for my kids just picking up and dropping off and not really getting to see them or spend time with them. However I know they made some great memories with all of their grandparents that they will hopefully treasure forever.
