Last Thursday night we were informed we had a big division test the following Monday. She gave us the study guide told us it was a 100 question multiple choice test. While I prefer multiple choice they are a bit tricky because most of the time there are two answers that could be right but only one is right by the book.
Anyway I stressed way to much over it thru the weekend and then on Monday well combine a typical Monday at work (still trying to train a new employee) lack of sleep frustration about the test I was not a pleasant person to be around.
Finally class time came and we went thru a lecture on another chapter then had the test. The teacher had a few of us go in to another room for the test some students like it quiet and then she pulled a few of us that had high test scores the first time in there so we could help the ones who struggled with tests. We couldn't give answers but we could read the question out lout with them. Anyway I stressed and made it thru the test and was the first done. Which always makes me feel strange wondering if I screwed up or should have re read all the questions etc.
So she pulled me in the office and showed me the Clinical book where we could pick our days and times for Ambulance and ER. She told me she had no doubt I had passed the test and to go ahead and start scheduling while she graded my test. I got a 90/100 which I was happy with however I had set a goal for 95/100. I think she sees how much I want this and that I am catching on and doing very well with it all. Now this could come back to get me this next class because we have a guest speaker/teacher for the night and I have a feeling she will be choosing students to assist him. Which is ok I will just have to grin and bear it and get over fear of being in front of people.
I'm very glad I have went thru with this class there have been a few negative people along the way and some who doubted that I had it in me. But there are those who are encouraging me because they were in the same spot at some point in time wanting to do this but listening to the negative more than positive. I am excited to start my ride alongs on the 10th!

Wednesday already
Wow Wednesday already seems like this week is flying!
- Last Friday I left work early for a Dr. Appointment for an endemetrosis biopsy and well it wasn't the most comfortable thing I had ever had done. Once we have results of that I will schedule the Novasure procedure and hopefully be the last thing. However that is also in office and well scares me just a bit.
-Saturday was our first auction of the year and while it was nice being inside it was a pain in the butt loading and unloading the trailer because we took everything inside the building. We already have several more scheduled so I hope it doesn't interfere with my clinicals for class and hopefully our house will be done so Kenny can watch the boys so I don't have to find sitters on weekends.
-Also on Saturday our interior doors came in and I we unloaded 16 of them I sure didn't need to workout on Saturday after the loading and unloading for the auction and then moving all the doors! I can't wait to get a picture of the closet door that is a mirror on both sides I LOVE IT.
-Sunday was a pretty quiet day Blake had spent the weekend with my parents so we picked him up early Sunday morning. Nathan wanted to go to Papa Kennys so we dropped him off there on the way to Vienna. Kenny worked on finishing the paint in the master bedroom and in Nathan's room.
-Monday I was off work and able to go over to the new house twice to watch them lay brick. I was glad I could take some pictures of them working. The guy who is laying it has been a long time friend of Kenny's family and we waited a long time for him to start our house. I am sure we could have had it done long ago and maybe cheaper but we decided we wanted Freddie to do the brick and no one else. I think its worth the wait because it already looks awesome!
-Nathan keeps telling everyone that daddy painted his room green and yellow so cute. He is so proud of his own room and shows it to everyone who comes over.
-I can't wait to order some of the decorations for Blake's bullrider/cowboy room. I really want to decorate it and surprise him. I have several ideas just need some help making them work out.
-Class is going good I still get frustrated with some things we are learning but I have to realize I am not alone and that everyone is learning at the same time and its all new and foreign to all of us. I am very excited to start our ride alongs and ER time.
-We hired a new person at my work to help me, which is great but trying to teach someone a job while trying to keep up with all the work is a bit complicated and stressful. However I keep telling myself it will all work out and be just fine.
-I signed up for my first ever race! Its a virtual race and it had a choice of half marathon or 10k I chose to do the 10k which is 6.2 miles (yes I had to google that to find the mileage) I hope to get that done tonight provided the kids are in bed on time. I have only ever went 5 miles so this will be a challenge and I may be a bit sore the following day.
-Couple weeks ago I bought some CLICK protein drink mix and when mixed and warm tastes just like my favorite cappuchino and keeps me full all morning with way less calories. Over the weekend Kenny bought some Whey Protein mix that is chocolate flavor and I drank it mixed with milk the last two morning. It honestly tastes just like chocolate milk! Plus keep me feeling pretty full until lunch.
-I am making a goal for myself to bring my lunch each day not only to save money but to feel better from eating healthier foods. Just the thought of a burger from McDonalds makes me want to throw up however when its lunch time and I am starving with no lunch from home. I end up at the drive thru then regret it all day with a stomach ache.

Wednesday Thoughts
Well it's Wednesday already (I am pretty sure it is anyway this week my brain is way off course with days) I still have homework to finish up tonight for my class tomorrow night. This chapter on Airways is about to kick my behind! The teacher hasn't gave her lecture on the chapter yet so we are flying a bit blind and in 60 pages of reading I am betting I don't need to memorize every line. So I hope tomorrow nights lecture will make the chapter clearer for me.
Last night for Valentine's day we fixed the kids breakfast for dinner. We had red heart shaped pancakes and sausage. I got Nathan new car's bubble bath and Blake got a new Nintendo DS game. Of course now Blake can't find the charger for his DS so there will be a search going on tonight for that.
Tonight I also need to catch up on putting away laundry and getting the dishes done. Amazing how those things can add up when it seems you are never home.....
Friday I get to leave work early for a Doctor's Appointment not real excited about that but I should get to make a stop at one or two of my favorite stores while there.
This Saturday is our first auction of the season seems awfuly early to me since our first last year was in April but at least we will be inside for once.

Valentine's Day
For me Valentines day is just another day, I don't expect to get anything from my husband even when I secretly hopes he does something romantic. In the 14 years we have been together (man I feel old saying 14) I can count on one hand the number of times I have gotten a Valentine's Day gift. First couple years I got flowers and a bear but not sent to work or school just brought home. Then several years nothing because he said flowers just die, true but being girl we like flowers and flowers delivered to your work are extra special.
So the other night he said your working Wednesday right.. Um yep sure am unless my boss wants to just give me a day off. I asked why and he said oh nothing just wanted to be sure you were there. Today I came back from lunch early and my boss tells me I have a Valentine upstairs on the front desk. Honestly as I walked up the stairs I figured it was from my mom. To my surprise I got a balloon with candy six chocolate covered strawberries and 6 baby cakes which are devils food cake bites dipped in chocolate and oh so yummy.
I called to thank him for the gift and he was like darn it came today, when I asked why he said it was supposed to come tomorrow. The Snap-On guy (who's wife owns a florist and candy shop) was supposed to bring me the candy tomorrow and bring it inside and personally give it to me. Oh what a hubby I have wanting the tool guy to deliver my candy. Apparently it was the tool guys idea and Kenny thought it was cool. I told him maybe the tool guy's wife thought it wasn't a good idea and delivered them to me today.
Here is a picture of my gift....
I should have turned the card around and cleared my desk better but I was to in shock for getting something today!

Snow....
Well we had our first measurable snow fall of the winter, not to bad for being mid February. However I liked the temps we had last week where it was warm enough to be out in just long sleeves.
Snow don't bother me if it will arrive on a Friday evening and leave by Sunday night when I don't HAVE to go anywhere or do anything. Where I have time to play with the kids in the snow and just be in pj's all day and watch movies with the kids.
However mother nature doesn't like to abide by what I want so we had a fun hour long commute to daycare then on to work yesterday morning. Driving when roads are bad doesn't bother me near as bad when I am alone in the car however when the kids are with me I am extra nervous. It took me and the kids over 30 minutes to make a 10 minute drive to daycare. Then another 30-40 from day care to work which is usually a 12 minute drive. As the day progressed the roads kept getting worse and the snow kept coming thankfully our boss closed our office around 4 so we were all able to head home before the 5 o'clock rush hour traffic. Took another hour to get to daycare then home with the kids but we were still home in time to play in the snow.
It's the first year Nathan knows what snow is and wants to play in it. So I got all 3 of us dressed warm and we headed out with the sleds to our yard. Wasn't really sledding snow but I still pulled them around the yard in their sleds. Which was quite the total body workout! Of course as I was pulling both of them I slipped and landed upside down on my head, both boys laughed so hard they were crying. They thought it was funny that mommy fell in the snow. We spent a good deal of time out there and I had to drag Nathan back in and he was mad and cried for a good 20 minutes.
This morning when I woke them up first thing out of Nathan's mouth was go play in snow please, oh how I wish I could have stayed home with them today playing in it!

Test Results............
Work was crazy busy yesterday giving me little time to think about the test that was coming, which could have been a good thing. I didn't have much time to stress about it. I got to class right at 5 ate my dinner while the two other girls at my table studied out loud and I was saying the answer in my head long before they would. So I felt a bit better that hey maybe I really did know all I needed.
The teacher took a poll to see who wanted to learn new material first or take the test first, sorry dumb question to ask because all of us wanted the test done and out of the way. It was 100 question multiple choice and we had two hours. I flew thru the test pretty fast and was the first one done, when I handed her the test she was like um already you sure. Yep I am sure so I had about an hour to kill in the other classroom before the next person was done. We had to wait to get our scores until everyone was done with the test which felt like an eternity. I killed my cell phone battery texting friends while I waspatiently impatiently waiting.
Then we went back in to our room and she started handing them back out I was NERVOUS and then she handed me mine and I got a 94% missed 6 questions out of the 100 and they were the 6 I wasn't sure on when I answered them. Some of the questions seemed to have to possible right answers you had to pick the better of the two. I had set a goal for myself to get 90 and I surpassed that!..
Some of the people in the class didn't pass and I felt really bad for one girl I knew she knew her material but she stressed out and over studied on it. They will get to retake it on Monday or Tuesday.
We are now moving on to the chapter about airways and have a test on that in a week or so, somehow after getting thru the first big test I am more calm about future ones. That is until we get to state and national testing this summer.

Studying
Studying who knew that after being out of school for 10 years that studying would be hard?? Of course in Highschool you didn't have much to worry about other than what was going on Friday night. Fast forward 10 years and I am a mom of two kids, a wife, work full time, secretary for the fire department oh and EMT student. I honestly don't know how people have families work and go to school full time evenings to get degrees!
Of course I realized I had set way high standards of myself for this class and in turn stressed out majorly. We have our first big test of the semester Thursday. Last week and the weekend I felt if I didn't spend every spare moment studying that I would fail. Monday night in class we learned it would be multiple choice which eased my nerves tremendously. I still want to get a 90% or higher but not going to stress myself out over studying. Even the teacher told me I was reading to far in to most of the questions on the study guide.
Today I am calm about it however tomorrow may be a whole new story. I feel I have so much riding on my passing of this class and this is the test that will determine when we start our ride alongs and ER time. Many people have went out of their way changing schedules to allow me to take this. The Board of the Fire Department had a meeting to change what night the meetings fell on so it wouldn't collide with school. Kenny is giving up two evenings a week to pick the boys up from daycare and fix them dinner and do the bedtime routine. Not to mention all the friends who are very supportive of me doing this adventure. I just don't want to let anyone down especially myself.
Thankfully most of the things we have learned thus far have been easy for me to grasp and some is just re learning from my Fire and Rescue classes back in Highschool. But when we hit the A&P Chapter I froze and stressed out. I hadn't learned about the human body heart and blood flow oh since about middle school. But after studying and looking at all the diagrams I now feel more confident in knowing where what and how things happen.
So fingers crossed that I don't freeze on Thursday and draw blanks when I start the test! I will post on Friday on how it went and my score and heck maybe if its a awesome score I may even take a picture of the test!

Where did the week go....
Gee this week has flown by! I only had one evening this week that wasn't full and I was able to be home with the kids. And of course that one night had to be the only night in the whole week both were crabby and cranky all evening. Nathan and Blake are loving their two nights a week with daddy and look forward to it, which is good. However part of the reason they like it is because they get to stay up later, which in turn makes for some rough mornings for me. But two out of 5 nights I will be ok with for now anyway.
This week in class we got to learn about the respiratory system, heart and the blood flow as well as chest cavities, bones and organ locations. Huge overload of my little brain but I am slowly making ways to remember all of it. We have our first big division exam next Thursday we have a study guide and I hope to have lots of time to get a lot of studying done between now and then.
Monday we get to learn how to take vitals (which I already know how to do) but I will finally get to use my new stethoscope :)
House progress has stalled once again. The cabinets should be arriving next week hopefully and I really hope we can get the painting finished up real soon.
Also this week I have became more dedicated to getting workouts in each day. Realized Wednesday night studying while walking on the treadmill wasn't a great idea. Even cut way way back on my soda intake which has been a bit hard. Because the more tired I am and the more stressed I get the more I want a soda.
Really hoping the rain subsides in the next 15 minutes so I can go out and get some cardio in during lunch. I have no problem walking in light rain or drizzle but its been raining pretty hard most of the morning.
