A Monday on a Tuesday

Holidays where you have Monday's off are nice but it always seems like Tuesday is way worse than a Monday would have been?? Maybe its just me who feels that way but I would have almost rather came to work yesterday to try and get ahead of these people who want things that are impossible to do.

After being off work for 6 days I found myself wishing for 5pm well before 9 am this morning how sad is that!!!!

Maybe today is just one of those blah days where my mood stinks and every little thing is irritating me at work today or maybe I am still burnt out and didn't have enough down time on my time off.......

Either way its half way thru this day and tomorrow will be another day!

6 days off........

Back to work after having 6 days off wish I could post that I did something cool went on an amazing vacation but nope nothing fun and exciting.

Even after being away from work for 6 days I still wasn't ready to come back not sure exactly what that means but I dreaded it all night.

It was the longest time I had taken off in the 9 years of working here and the other two times were 3 weeks maternity leave.

We got some much needed rain but it killed the fair which is why I had taken off work. We had the demo derby Thursday night and then the rest of the events I was scheduled to work were canceled. I did manage to get several boxes emptied and put away at the house and the house is starting to slowly feel like home.

I got my table in my bedroom that I had bought at a auction well I didn't technically bid on it I ended up with it after the sale was over but none the less I love the table and it looks great in my master bedroom. I unpacked my pink and white vase that I got at an auction last fall and put in on the table. Still need to unpack picture frames to place on the lower level of the table and then I will take and post a picture.

Also got to unpack my crocks that I had bought at auctions last year that will sit on my counter top and hold my cooking utensils. And unpacked my purple carnival glass. Its still sitting on the counter until I figure out just where I want to put it.

My grandma had me come over several months ago and look thru all her cabinets and china cabinets and tell her what dishes I would like to have. Yes it felt very weird looking at all the dishes I have grown up seeing in there and telling her yes I want this and that...... Well since we have moved she has asked a couple times for me to come over and pack those items up so I can display them in my new home. I am still a bit weirded out by it and it will be strange to walk in her kitchen and not see the familiar dishes in her cabinet. However I had a friend tell me recently that while it may feel weird I need to go ahead and take the stuff, that it will make her happy knowing I got it. I looked at them a bit strange and they said death changes families and someone may decide they want this or that even tho Grandma told me I could have it. I guess it does make sense she has some nice dishes that I wouldn't want to get thrown away or gave to someone who wasn't family. So once I have all my items in their places I will take pictures and do a post about Grandma's stuff.

Sunday I took the kids to Mike and April's small town of St. Elizabeth for their wedding rehearsal and the boys did good. Blake took his job very seriously (ring bearer) even though he wasn't sure why the real rings won't be on the pillow. Nathan did ok for being tired wore out and hungry. Him and another little boy get to carry signs that say here comes the bride. I just hope he does ok and walks down the aisle like he is supposed to. I am planning to have one of the groomsmen have a little surprise for him when he gets all the way up there.

I am so excited that April is getting married to a great guy and can't wait to do a post about the wedding next week!

Finally Friday

This has felt like one long never ending week but today is Friday and there are mounds of files to get done between today Monday and Tuesday... Because I am off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Its the first time since I have been here 9 years I have taken more than two vacation days in a row (minus the 3 weeks after having Blake and Nathan)

I am trying not to stress about it I know I need the time off and Thursday and Friday I will be grilling at the Maries County Fair so its not really a vacation, which is why I took Wednesday off as well. I need some me time especially after last weekend and this week. I have to find a dress for a very important wedding I am attending in a couple weeks.

Yesterday was our 9 year wedding anniversary guess you know when you've been married a long time when its just another day. I had a board meeting last night got home from it we ate chicken tenders cooked in the microwave and chips in lawn chairs in the dining room. Real romantic ha!!!

Really hope to get the rest of our furniture moved this weekend and to get our tv moved I am missing getting to relax and watch a show or movie not to mention house is way to quiet after the kids are in bed!

The new house is finally starting to feel more like home I don't wake up at night feeling like I am in someone elses house, don't feel strange getting up in the night and walking thru it to the kitchen to get Nathan more milk. First few nights I felt like I had to walk quietly and that I was in someone elses house.

Working another auction tomorrow and hopefully it won't be a long one. At least it's not one that has anything on it I think I HAVE to have.

What a week!

What a week it has been. We are in our new house but none of us are really sleeping good.... It doesn't feel like home I wake up and feels like I am in someone elses house. Nathan told me last night he wanted to go home and I said we are and he told me no mommy I want to go to old house.

Really not sure how people move all the time with kids! I never moved when I was growing up so I am clueless as to how they are feeling, heck who am I kidding I am having just as hard of a time.

I will take pictures and do a blog post about the house soon once we get the rest of our furniture in and everything organized and put away.

Tomorrow is Friday and then Saturday is another auction hopefully this Saturday won't be near as eventful as last Saturday but even if it is I am ready to go again. As hard as last weekend was I would do it all over again any day.

Weekend good and bad........And Monday HARD

What a weekend it was!!!! One that I would prefer not to do over again but it also had some good spots...

The big news is we spent over 12 hours packing and moving furniture so we could start sleeping in the new house!! Still a lot to move like our living room stuff dining room, washer and dryer. But our beds and dressers are there :) :) :) Sunday we got up early Blake had stayed with my mom and step dad for the weekend so Kenny Nathan and I started packing and cleaning furniture to take to the new house. Around 4 my brother in law and his girlfriend came over and helped us load up the trailer and move. I should have took pictures of our furniture on the trailer but I was to tired.

Still have yet to cook a meal on my new stove or use my oven and haven't used my dish washer yet which I am the most excited about. Lots of little things still need done like putting up curtains (ok have to buy some first) installing towel rods and toilet paper holders. Living out of dresser drawers in the floor and boxes is getting to me but I am just glad we are finally in two years and two months!

Saturday was a LONG day one I would rather not repeat again. However it was also very eye opening and heart breaking. Started off early 6:30 am meeting at the fire house to load the trailer for the auction. Mid morning we had ran out of food so they sent Kathy and I back to Vichy to get more hotdogs and hamburgers. Which was so awesome because I don't get to spend much time with her and to have almost an hour of just us together to talk was the greatest part of the day. The auction was HUGE there was so much stuff there you could go watch for half and hour go back an hour later to see where they were and they would still be on same wagon! Mid afternoon Kathy Donnie and I were watching some stuff sell as they were getting close to the trailer that had a few things we were interested in. The pager went off for a first responder call to a tractor accident and gave the name of the property owner. I looked at Donnie and asked if I could go (as we both knew the people who owned the property) I really figured he would say no I needed to stay and help his dad cook. But to my surprise he said yep come on your going with me! I was excited and nervous so as we ran to the truck Mark decided to go with us as well. Now I am not in to driving crazy fast or being in cars that go crazy fast and always glad that when I am in the ambulance I can't see how fast we are going. But Saturday being right in the middle I could see and let me tell you I was one ball of nerves as we left Rolla and flew towards Vichy. We got to the accident scene before the fire truck and ambulance there were a couple of others that had drove their vehicles there and I jumped out of the truck and ran over and did what needed to be done. I was the smallest one so I was under the hay wagon. It was the hardest call I had ever been on and one of the worst things I had ever seen. But my training kicked in and I did what I knew had to be done. The ambulance came and took the girl to the hospital she died on the way.

I didn't have time to process, think or talk about what had just happened because in the midst of that we got another page to help Belle with a brush and structure fire. I didn't have much of a choice on going to the second call as my keys and purse were still in another vehicle at the auction all I had on me was my phone. Had another hair raising drive from first scene to fire house and then jumped in the tanker with Donnie and headed towards Belle. We ran water shuttle for several hours while several other departments helped battle the brush fire. I was glad to know my knowledge came back to me once again I remembered the procedures and where everything was. It was like second nature which was pretty cool since I hadn't been around the fire trucks in 12 years. They finally released us around dark and we headed back to the fire house. I helped them clean up all the hoses and headed home. I was wore out sore tired and still wasn't sure how to process what all had happened that afternoon and evening.

Sunday I kept myself busy so I didn't have to think about the day before but sleep didnt come easy at all. Yesterday my part of the office was very quiet and well I couldn't ignore what had happend the day before. Was hard when asked why I looked so tired and how my weekend was I couldn't explain much and sure couldn't go in to detail. By noon I decided I needed to just go for a drive I would have went and ran but my body was to sore from the two prior days. Then yesterday afternoon I sent a text to a friend telling her that I was trying to not let Saturday get to me but it wasn't easy. She replied I was afraid of that and its ok that stuff gets to all of us we will talk about it. Guess that's when I realized that those kind of calls gets to everyone weather they ever admit it or not. It was my first call of that nature and knowing the family made it a bit harder and the girl was young. Later in the day I got another text telling me I had done a great job on Saturday. Up until then I was second guessing myself on a lot of things wondering if I had what it took. One friend told me that if I couldn't handle what happened saturday that maybe this job wasnt for me and while it hurt and made me cry they were right. I need to find ways to cope with it and people I can talk to about it. I am not a type of person who will easily talk about my feelings so I bottle it all up.

When I went to bed last night I felt better and slept somewhat better (as good as you can in a new strange place) and woke up today in a good mood. I now realize that I have to learn to talk about stuff no matter how hard it may be.

5 Question Friday

Haven't done one of these in a long time...

1. What's the one thing you buy every time you walk into the store? 98% of the time its milk and about 95% of the time I always get a diet mountain dew when I am in line to check out.

2. If you had a day all to yourself how would you spend it? Relax enjoy the quiet time maybe do some shopping.

3. Are you a speed limit driver? If not, over or under? Over a majority of the time but not by much usually 5-10 on highways or interstates. Heck on the interstate driving 80 you get passed like your are standing still. But in town I try to obey and go right at or a little under.

4. What's your favorite dessert to make, homemade or from a mix?? Chocolate chip cookies homade. Favorite from a mix would be brownies.

5. Would you rather have a spider or a mouse scurry across your face (no copping out and saying "neither!!")? Mouse because if you smack it hard enough you would hopefully make it go a long ways away. However with a spider you never know where it went and if its night time it really creeps me out wondering where it went or if I killed it.

Date night

It's very seldom that we go out on a date night we may go out to eat and then to walmart and well it just doesn't feel like a "date". Last Friday I told Kenny that the new Bourne movie he wanted to see opened and it was in Rolla. I could have cared less about he movie but knew he loved all the others and had mentioned several times when seeing previews that he would like to see it in theatre.

I told him if his parents would watch the boys we could go to the 7pm showing and still be home early enough to pick the boys up and get home so I could get a good night sleep for my day on the ambulance. He calls back later to tell me that a guy he works with and his wife was going with us and that we would go to a nice dinner then the movie. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that our date night was turning in to a double date but I really like the couple that was going with us.

We met at our friends house and went to eat at Matt's Steakhouse and had a really good time Christine and I had a couple awesome margarita's and a great steak dinner. We still had a couple hours to kill until the 10pm movie so we went to Kokomo Joe's and played mini golf. I hadn't ever been there even though I drive by it daily. We got our clubs and balls and realized we were really the only all adult group out there but hey we didn't care. Christine and I had fun trying to beat the guys. A few times we even laid down on the ground and hit the ball with the other end of the club like a cue stick. I think we almost embarrassed the guys a few times but hey we were having fun (or maybe it was the margaritas talking)

After our big golf game we headed to the movie theatre and to our surprise there was very few people in there. The movie was good but boy I was tired when we got out of there at midnight! But it was a awesome night and a great date and I was very glad our friends went along with us and made it more fun. Hope that we are able to do that again sometime was nice to get out and go on a date that felt like a date not dinner and grocery shopping.
