Haven't made a blog post in a couple weeks. Life has been busy work has been crazy and I just never seem to know what to write. So I will just make one post of what's been going on and what is coming up.
- Blake starts 2nd grade in 10 days seems like school was just getting finishing and now its time to start again!
- Nathan keeps growing more and more independent which is good but sad too since he is now a full fledged toddler doing things on his own the baby stage is gone :(
- I am officially an EMT and can apply where ever I choose I got the last piece of paper work this morning so I now have my State License as well as my National Registry License. But with that comes looking for a job or volunteering on a Fire Dept to keep my certification. As hard as I worked for this I don't want to lose my certification.
-Last Wednesday I went and dropped off my first ever application for an EMT the ambulance base isn't currently hiring but I wanted to get mine in the stack anyway. I did get the ok that I can have some more ride alongs there for experience which totally made my day! Now to find a free Saturday to go and do what I love.
- This Saturday I am attending an outdoor wedding in St. Louis its going to be a very small affair and a very casual one heard the bride is wearing slacks... Guess that nixes my thought of wearing one of my sundresses. So my other two options are black dress capris or white dress capris however I thought you weren't supposed to wear either of those colors to a wedding. But maybe since its casual and a second marriage for both that those things don't apply.
-Blake and Nathan have defiantly hit a stage that I am more than ready for them to pass. They can't get along for more than 5 minutes. And since I was an only child I am a bit clueless on how to handle it or if its just a normal part of growing up. Seems like I am always the referee.
-We are OHHH so close to getting moved in to the house. In fact the house is done! My closet shelves got installed yesterday while I was working an auction. So I can start moving stuff in to my kitchen cabinets and wait for the exterminator to come and do what ever it is he said he needed to do prior to us moving in. I can say I am more than ready for this phase to be done and be in the new house enjoying it.
-CAN'T wait to use my dishwasher which may be my favorite appliance and ready for the boys to have their own room and their own space.
-Oh and other big news I am currently training to do the Rock N' Roll Half Marathon in St. Louis October 21. Seems so far away but I know it will be here before I know it. Just the thought of 13.1 miles scares the tar out of me but one of my best friends is doing it with me. Its something that both of us have always wanted to do.
-Also in October a few weeks before the half we are running the Wounded Warrior 5K which should be a fun race.

7 years ago today......
7 years ago today I was in labor and not fully realizing or grasping how my life was about to change forever. Some days it seems so long ago and other days I wonder where the time has went.
Blake has grown so much in the last couple of summers won't be long before he is taller than me! He is an awesome big brother although there are days they fight like cats and dogs I know that he will always protect Nathan. He is a farmer thru and thru and would rather spend time on the farm riding tractors and combines than playing video games or going to the park or pool.
Hard to believe he will be in Second grade this year! But happy that there are still evenings that he wants to sit on my lap and watch tv and for mornings that he wants to cuddle. They are far and few in between so I cherish each time.

I did it!!!
Well I did it I am done with my EMT schooling and I am now an EMT (well after some paperwork gets finalized and I have my official card) I went to Columbia Saturday afternoon to take my written test. I was prepared for it to be hard test the two others that had taken it before me said it was hard. I spent the day trying to stay calm and not freak out about it.
I arrived 40 minutes before my appointment got all checked in they have to scan your palms and then do a picture and check your pockets to be sure you aren't sneaking anything in. Then you are in this little room that has several computer stations in it and you sit with your back to a big glass room that has a guy watching all the test takers. I sat down calmed my nerves and started my test. I was surprised that the questions were easier than I had anticipated and that I knew most all of the answers before finishing the question. It took me about 30 minutes and 80 or so questions for the test to shut down. Its computerized and there is no set number of questions you have two hours to complete and as you answer questions in different areas it figures out where you struggle or excel and you get either harder or easier until it determines if you pass or fail. It shut off I signed back out and went home.
Yesterday I logged in to the website a million times to see if they would post on weekends and well they don't. Everyone I talked to said they knew I passed since I was that quick and that few of questions. I felt good about the test and at ease after it was done but wanted the official you passed message.
This morning I got to work decided to log in to the site just to see if they had updated it and to my surprise this was the message that it showed: Congratulations on successfully earning your national EMS certification. Your Certification documents will be mailed to you within three business days.
I was beyond excited and defiantly a good start to the day and the week.

The weekend
Well I had my first ever solo trip to the city this weekend and I survived. But I am a country girl and well the city isn't for me! Driving in 3 and 4 lanes of traffic had me on edge and freaked out. Road signs in Illinois stink big time I got lost a few times getting to my friends house and then a few times trying to get home on Saturday.
When I finally arrived at her house she handed me an envelope and said it was my graduation gift. I opened it to find a gift certificate for a 1 hour massage at a spa here in Rolla. I was shocked beyond words and was totally an unexpected but very amazing thoughtful gift! She knew I had never had a massage before and wanted me to experience it.
So Lesley, Amy and I got ready to go for girls night out. Lesley said we were going to a piano bar and well Amy and I were like um ok what the heck is a piano bar. It was totally not what I was thinking and ended up being pretty darn cool. My cousin who lives in St. Louis met us there and it was nice getting to spend time with her. The bartender at the piano bar knew us yes small world we happended to have all 3 went to school with him. The bar had a very small town feel which was nice wish I could have had my regular camera to take some pictures. We then walked down the street to another place and danced for a couple hours. I had never danced before and still think I must have looked like a goof out there but I wasn't going to stand there alone while my friends went out there to dance.
We got home and had literally two hours of sleep before having to be up and and ready to head back downtown for the race. We had a great time at the race but the drive home from Belleville was long long long. I stopped in Sullivan at Lowe's to look around they usually have some different things than our Lowes.
Got home showered and Kenny wanted to go to Best Buy in Jeff City to use a coupon. So we drove there shopped and ate dinner and got home at midnight I was one wore out girl!
Yesterday I got all laundry caught up finally felt so good to have all empty baskets! My hips are killing me from wearing heels Friday night and dancing but surprisingly my legs felt great.

My first 5K.
Saturday was my first ever 5k we opted to do the walk instead of the run which was fine and I am honestly glad we did. Doing the walk we were able to interact with other walkers see the sights and enjoy our time. Not to mention it was almost 90 before the race started at 9! We were walking for my friends mom who is battleing breast cancer for the second time. They had signs you could put on your shirt that said you were walking for and we saw one couple who were in their 70's walking and the back of her shirt said walking for me 47 year survivor. We saw several walking that were survivors and several who were walking in memory of a loved one it was very emotional to say the least.
There were people as far as you could see ahead of us and behind us. I had never seen so many people in one place at one time. But with all the people there was no pushing shoving everyone was friendly.
During our walk we saw a resturant who was selling hotdogs on the sidwalk so Amy (on the left) and I had to stop and have us a city hot dog Lesley (middle) laughed at us but we wanted a good city expierence so a hotdog on the street hey why not. Not to mention it was the first thing we had to eat that day and it was already halfway thru the race.
I saw a pink fire truck on our way to the race that morning and I told the girls I wanted to go find it again and get a picture.
Then I found one of the fire fighters and he had pink gear and well I was in love. I told him I think I needed to get a job there just to wear my favorite color daily! He wasn't very friendly or I would have asked him if I could try on his coat and helmet and get a picture.
The race was awesome and I hope that I can do it again with Lesley and Amy next year. But also doing my first race has made me want to find another race to sign up for and to run the next one.

A misc. post
I have way to many things running around in my head to focus on one topic for one post. So I will just do one post with a lot of little things....
Update on School its done and over :( Last Thursday was the last day and she gave us our certificate of completion, I got a perfect attendance award and we got our final grades. I knew as of last Monday what my grade was but seeing it on paper well that was awesome. I graduated highest grade in class of a 99.9 I really figured that the girl who sat next to me would tie with me but I ended up being a bit higher than her. I worked my tail off for the last 20 weeks and put in over 176 hours of ambulance time. Which I also took the cake for most ambulance hours out of the whole class.
Last weekend was the first weekend since March 12 that I wasn't on an ambulance at some point during a weekend and it really bothered me a lot. I liked being home to sleep in and spend time with Nathan (Blake was at my mom's farming) but I felt heart broke that I wasn't going to be on an ambulance doing what I loved anytime in the near future.
I took my practical skills test on June 8th and passed and once we completed class I was able to go in and pay and schedule for my written computerized test... Logged in today and picked a date and I can say I felt like throwing up clicking the date time and then accept. I go to Columbia on July 7 at 4pm to take the final step in becoming an EMT. So now its time to kick back in study mode and study my tail off to be ready. Our teacher told us that all of the students that passed the written first time thru she would pay for their Missouri State license for the first year. Which I thought was pretty cool of her to offer plus once we are all done testing we are going to get together and have a big celebratory bbq.
This weekend I am driving to see one of my best friends it will be my first ever solo trip to St. Louis and past to her home in Belleville Ill. I am driving up Friday after work and spending the night with her and her sister. Then up early the next morning to meet the rest of the group to travel on in to downtown St. Louis to do the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer 5k. Its my first ever race and I cant think of a better friend to do it with and for a better reason. We are walking for her and her sisters mom who is battling breast cancer for the second time within two years. I have a feeling it will be a very emotional day seeing all the survivors there and those who are battling it and all the teams who came together to show support for such a great cause. Hope to have lots of pictures of our team and race to blog about first part of the week.
Our house is almost complete! We installed the stove and microwave over the weekend and the kitchen is completely done! All that is really left is paint interior doors which we took down Sunday and a friend is coming to paint them later in the week and then laying carpet. I went yesterday to a carpet store that was recommended to me and I was really pleased with how nice and friendly they were. I found a carpet I really liked and they are going to come out and measure and give us a price. I would much much rather go local thru this place than Lowes. The owner of the store was the one talking to me yesterday and he also is one of the installers so to go to one store and meet who is going to be working at the house laying the carpet is nice. Way better than Lowe's or Home Depot where you have no clue who will be coming and never get the same person twice in the department.

Catch up and a couple photos....
Wow way behind in posting not sure where time is going or where this week has gone. This will be a lot of random things all piled in to one post. I will start with a couple pictures from Monday night. We decided to do our class pictures at school Monday.
Yes that would be me strapped to the backboard laying sideways on the bench and yes I was a bit nervous that the two behind me would drop me on my face... We wanted to do an awesome class picture that was way cooler than years past and I think we achieved it. Hard to think that beginning of semester we had 20+ people and now we are down to this small group and I bet that the group will be smaller of the ones of us who end up going on to national testing.

This was one that another girl got with her camera I think when its not cropped you can see that both Nicci and I are suspended off the ground just hanging around.
I have been so busy with ambulance time studying for my practical skills test that is tomorrow that I totally forgot I need to be training for a5k that is June 23! Lucky for me I found out our team is walking most of it so I am not to worried. I am worried about it being my first ever solo trip to St. Louis and first ever race but excited to do it with one of my close dear friends and we are doing the race in honor of her mom who is battling breast cancer for the second time in two years.
Tomorrow is a huge day I go test for National Registry Level for practical skills and as I am trying not to be nervous I have eagles soaring in my stomach! I know that I know the material I just have to keep my nerves in check. After my test if I can get back to St. James in time I am going to spend the rest of the day at the ambulance base and hope for some good calls!!!!
Blake played in his first ever baseball game last Friday I will upload pics and do a post on it soon, he plays again tomorrow night and is excited that it's picture night. Maybe I can talk one of the ambulance crews in to going over there during his game so I can watch him play some.

The teacher liked this one because you could see that I was suspended several inches off the ground and well I can say that I had some bruising below my knees and below something else... But it was an awesome picture and some close friends of mine couldn't believe that I finally got the courage up to do this for a class picture guess it was time to step out of my comfort zone.
