This weekend we loaded up the boys and drove to St. Elizabeth, a cute little small town where my friend April moved. The boys were anxious to get there and every minute or so Blake wanted to know if we were there yet and how much farther. Of course he wanted to go farm with Mike and see turkeys and thought that once we drove the long ways that the turkeys would be another long drive. Which he later found out was only a short drive from their house.
Once we left there we had planned on going on to Jeff City and Columbia to do some shopping eat a nice dinner and go watch a movie. However those plans fell apart when we got a call that we needed to drive to St. Louis. I was upset that we had to drive another two hours and not get to have our fun day. My mother in law wanted to go with us and I was so glad when Kenny told her that this weekend had been planned for us to spend together. That April was nice enough to want the boys for the weekend so we could have some much needed time together alone. She decided to stay home and drive up the following weekend. We got to St. Louis pretty late in the afternoon visited with them for awhile. There was a weird tension in the air and I was very ready to leave. They tried talking us in to eating Arby's with them but we wanted to salvage what we could of our day so we went to Outback Steakhouse and had a very nice dinner. It had been so long since we had been out to eat just the two of us for dinner. And it was nice being in a town where we didn't know anyone so there wasn't people constantly stopping by to chat.
Sunday morning I got up and got ready for church and boy oh boy was it a weird feeling going to church without the kids! Felt naked and lonely but I sat between Brenda and her sister Linda and it was a great service. After church Brenda asked if Kenny and I wanted to meet her and Don at the Chinese restaurant in town. I wasn't real sure he would want to but I said I'd try and to my surprise he wanted to go! So we met them along with Scott, Tammy, Linda and Diane at the restaurant. It was a very nice meal (well as nice as could be for a buffet place) But it was nice being around that whole group who will keep you laughing no matter what mood you are in. After lunch we headed to Family Center to get the boys Valentines Day gifts then to Connie and Dwayne's to get the boys. Of course when we got there Blake was like oh mom I don't want to go yet I am having to much fun.
By the time we got the boys in the car and headed home they were very wore out and both slept the whole time. In fact as soon as they ate dinner both were ready for bed! And they slept sound all night, very glad that April wore them out for me!
Nathan learned two new words this weekend he learned to say gobble gobble after seeing the turkeys and I have heard he learned to say Nonnie (I haven't got him to say it yet but they say he does) He still calls cows arfs but at least we are gaining on his animal noises.

Friday
It is Friday which should make me jump for joy and happy that the weekend is right around the corner and with it warmer weather is arriving. However I am in a mood not sure what to feel or how to feel. My kids are super excited for their weekend with April and Mike and then to spend time with Connie and Dwayne on Sunday. I am sure they will have lots of fun getting spoiled with all the attention!
The last week or so my husband's uncle has been in the hospital he went in because he wasn't feeling well. Over the years he has been in and out of the hospital for different things and never was 100% healthy the 12 years I have known him. Earlier in the week they put him on a ventilator to help him breathe and then his kidneys shut down so they told his wife she would have to make a decision on what to do. Well they tried several more things to bring him back around and to get his kidneys and other ailments fixed and nothing seemed to help. So yesterday afternoon she made a decision that I don't wish upon anyone to unplug the ventilator and let him go. While I know he is in a much better place and no longer feeling bad or in pain its still not an easy thing. This Uncle and Aunt were the ones we were closest to out of my husband's family, he had been close to them his whole life and its where his grandma is currently living. Last weekend I asked my husband if he wanted to go up and see his Aunt and Uncle at the hospital and he said no and while I sit here now thinking I should have pushed the issue and made him go its to late and I can't change a thing.
I am not really sure if they will have a funeral or memorial service for him, I think they should because he has lots of family in the Vienna area and friends who would probably like to have a chance to say their goodbyes.
Also not sure what to do or say to my husband as he is keeps his feelings to himself as do I. So just like I never mentioned what last week was I doubt he will say anything on how he feels about losing his Uncle.
Seems like the end of January and the start of February is getting more and more full of anniversary's of deaths of friends and loved ones. Last week was the anniversary of 3 friends this week is the anniversary of one of my good friends from highschool who passed away 5 years ago. And now my husband's Uncle, guess the only good way to look at it is that if they are all grouped together you can grieve each year at one time and not have it spread all throughout the year.

5 Question Friday
Well its finally Friday!
1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home MakeOver or TLC's What not to Wear?
I would love to have a new wardrobe but would much rather have a team of people come and finish my house and make the decisions all while we were away on vacation. Heck I could skip the vacation part if I could stay and just watch and help. Somedays I think it would have been easier to have just bought a house already built.
2. Do you have any tattoos?
Nope sure don't. I would always be worried I wouldn't like it and I could never make up my mind on what I wanted.
3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up?
Well considering they are way to young no. But I do share things that I did that was fun as a child. When they are older I will decide what to tell and when.
4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up?
Depends on where I am and how close to the light I am. Normally I will slow down if there is enough time to stop. But if there is a big truck behind me better believe I will run the yellow light don't want to take the chance of him not being able to stop. Definatly dont want him in my back seat!
5. What's your preference: chocolate or chips?
Chocolate m&m's and plain Lay's Chips were always my favorite snack growing up.

Thursday Thoughts
It's Thursday and the sun is shinning which is a great plus! My mood has improved each day which makes me happy! Work has been pretty slow and that is ok because in my down time I can help out a great project that my friend Ashley is doing. I was bummed I didn't get to go to her last project party but I am hopeful that things will work out better this time. But none the less I am happy that I was able to contribute to the last project and that I am able to help with this one as well.
Blake came home from school to tell me that he is in the star club for knowing all of his sight words without having help! I was so thrilled as there are probably 20+ words they are expected to know before Kindergarten. It makes me happy to see him so excited about excelling in school. I am glad he likes school and is making some friends however some of those friends I am not to crazy about and some have tried to get him in trouble.
Valentine's Day is right around the corner and while I know I won't get anything and I don't expect anything. I plan on making something special for dinner for the 4 of us that night just not sure what yet. I do know that Kenny has been wanting me to make an apple pie and I have all the stuff. My mom made up some pie filling and canned it and gave it out as Christmas gifts. The apples are from our tree at our new house and I have ate pies my grandma has made with them in years past and they are so yummy. So I think I will make that Sunday morning if he is gone working and surprise him with it.

Half Way Thru the Week
It's halfway thru the week and we once again have more snow. I am very ready for spring have had enough sledding, slipping and sliding to last until next winter. I have also had enough close calls while driving last night was one that was closer than I would have liked all because a car was being careless while driving on the ice covered gravel road. And at speeds you shouldn't go regardless of the condition of the road. However he saw me in time and took the ditch instead of hitting me head on. Really wanted to get out and give him a piece of my mind but I stayed in my car and watched in my rear view mirror to see if he got out of the ditch and when he did I went on my way. It freaked Blake out a bit he was like uh mom there is a car on our side, Nathan slept thru the whole thing.
This weekend the boys are going to spend some time with April and Mike, its been awhile since they have seen them. And it will be the first time they have seen her new house, I am excited to see their first home oh and finally find out where St. Elizabeth is. After we drop them off Kenny and I have several things we want to do while out and about. Hope we have a great weekend and have some good quality time together. I am sure the boys will have lots of fun being spoiled by their April. Blake is excited and wants to see the turkeys and help Mike farm. Nathan will just be excited to have a different house to explore and run around in squealing.
Two weeks from tomorrow will be my second meeting and so far I am not nervous about it. I have the minutes typed up and approved from January's meeting. I even bought myself a couple pink folders to keep everything organized.

Walmart
You go to Walmart with a small list of items that should cost 20.00 or less but when you leave you have a cart full and spent 50.00.... We have been talking about making a trip to Columbia to go check out Sam's Club, I know that several of the items we buy weekly we can buy in bulk there and it is cheaper. However I don't know many people with kids who go there to shop. So if any readers shop Sam's please let me know if its worth driving and paying the membership.
Here is what we would like to buy there:
Fruit Snacks
Nutri Grain Bars
Pop tarts
Granola Bars
Jimmy Dean Sasuage pancake (they are like a corn dog but pancake and sausage instead)
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Frozen veggies (not sure they even sell those there)
This is what we usually buy weekly at walmart but I feel that if we could make a trip monthly or bi monthly to Sam's Club that we could eliminate the need for weekly walmart trips (which would drastically cut our grocery bill down) and get our milk and bread from Kroger or Country Mart and personally I like Country Mart's deli lots better than Walmart.
Not to mention that when you are in Walmart the kids want to look at movies, toys clothes etc. and my spouse likes to look at hunting fishing and automotive things and thinks he finds deals on things he just has to have.

The week is almost over...
Well this week is almost over and I am glad, I know it doesn’t sound good to want to wish your week away. But this week is one that I am glad is almost done.
Yesterday evening we decided to take the boys out in our yard and let Blake try his new snow boogie board out and it was Nathan’s first time sledding. He loved sitting in the snow tube flying down the yard (ok he wasn’t flying but it was sure cute to hear him laugh and giggle when he was going down) He would just sit there and wait for us to pull him back up and go again. He got so mad when we had to come inside but it was far to cold to be out for very long.
I hope to take Blake sledding this weekend and it will be fun for me and a good workout. I don’t think I will take Nathan as it will be to cold for him to be out there for hours so I will find somewhere warm for him to stay and play. If I remember I will bring my camera along and capture the sledding experience.
This morning I was able to get the minutes finalized and typed from my first Meeting and I emailed them to the Treasurer so she could tell me if it looked and sounded ok. I was so worried that I had to much or not enough and actually I had it right. Needed to add one thing but that wasn’t something that was on the outline I had to go from. I am actually excited for my next meeting the 24th of this month.
